A friend of mine came to visit me recently and was alarmed, that I had a sculpture of a slave train, in my home. Why would you want that, she asked me and told me that slavery was such a negative part of our history and she did not like to think about it.  Her comments shocked me, but I knew that she was not unique in her views. It is quite surprising the amount of people who push slavery to the furthest corner of their mind, as if it had never existed. Slavery was a very despicable crime and should never of happened but we should never forget that it did happen.  As to forget about slavery would mean that our fore parents struggles, blood, sweat and tears would have all been in vain. We as a nation have had to endure years and years of tribulation, but as a people we have come so far.  So to look back in time is not to look back and be ashamed but to look back and see where we are coming from, where we are today and the heights we can reach tomorrow.   Our ancestors went through so much and strived to make a change and their fight must never be forgotten.   So click onto the Our Story Page where every month is Black History Month.
